KENTUCKY — A mother who was arrested in connection with the disappearance of her 3-year-old daughter from a Kentuckian’s backyard allegedly told police her son had been abducted by criminals, according to an arrest warrant filed on Wednesday.
Katherine Smith, 31, was arrested this week on a warrant charging her with five counts of child abuse in relation to a March 13 incident in the 1200 block of East Franklin Street, said Kentuckian Detective Sgt. Bill White.
“Her 2-year-old daughter was taken by unknown persons and then returned home, where she was placed with her mother in the house with a 2-year-old boy, where the family has been away from each other,” White said in an affidavit. “The girl was returned and not treated any differently from other children in the home.”
A family member called police to complain of the disappearance of the child, White said.
A short time later, the girl was seen walking in a wooded area outside the home near the intersection of East Franklin St. and Western Drive. A witness called police about 5 p.m. on March 16 and said they saw a gray van parked in front of the home and that the family was there, White said.
White said investigators found the van in the area but they couldn’t determine who owned it. The family’s home is behind the home where police believe a young boy was dropped off that day. Smith is listed as the mother of the toddler, White said.
The boy, who was about 1 year old, is from Indiana.
Smith had been living at her parents’ residence, where her parents told police they have been separated since March 16, police said.
“The alleged victim’s f더킹카지노amily is extremely distresse우리카지노d and concerned about the welfare and wellbeing of their baby girl, as these family members would suffer very if Smith was ever to enter a violent relationship with anyone,” police said in a statement.
According to investigators, Smith did not provide a “statement of complaint” to police. However, Smith “provided a statement of alleged victimization and further details to the police department after being advised of her alleged cont우리카지노act with the (D.I.A.) detectives.”
Police searched the house where she had been living on March 20 in the 1100 block of N. Second Street, at which time, after Smith was arrested, the girl’s condition was upgraded to critical condition with “substantial loss of organ tissue,” accordin
